Home Slurry Seal and Microsurfacing Equipment Macropaver 12B

Maintenance Tips

A crucial part of keeping the Macropaver running is maintenance.  The following are some suggestions that will help identify areas that need attention on your Macropaver.

Aggregate Conveyor

  1.  Belt condition - Check for frayed edges, for tears in the carcass or for worn out rubber.  Replace if necessary.  Regularly check to make sure the belt is tracking in the center of the conveyor.  If the belt is tracking off-center, tighten in small increments the take up bearing frame on the side toward which the belt is tracking until the belt returns to the center.
  2.  Bearings - Check to make sure all bearings are in good condition and properly lubricated.  Replace bearings that are worn out or that have blown out seals.
  3.  Hopper Skirt Rubber - Check to make sure it is in good condition and replace if necessary.
  4.  Inlet Hopper Rubber - Check to make sure it is in good condition and replace if necessary.
  5.  Jackshaft - Check couplers for wear.  There should not be excessive play between the coupler halves and the coupler chain.  Replace if necessary and/or lubricate.

Pugmill

  1.  Paddle Tips - Check for wear and replace if necessary
  2.  Bearings - Check to make sure all bearings are in good condition and properly lubricated.  Replace bearings that are worn out or that have blown out seals.
  3.  Gears - Check for lash.  Significant lash in the gears indicates that the teeth are wearing thin and that the gears should be replaced.
  4.  Slinger Rings - Check to make sure they are in good condition and replace if necessary.
  5.  Shaft Seals - Check to make sure they are in good condition and replace if necessary.
  6.  Diverter and Belt Wiper Rubber - Check for tears.  Replace if necessary.

Emulsion Pump/Conveyor Drive

  1.  Couplers - Check coupler halves to see if the teeth are wearing thin.  There should not be excessive play between the coupler halves and the coupler chain.  On the drive motor and the clutch shaft (splined shafts) check for play between the coupler half and the shaft.  Replace if necessary and/or lubricate.
  2.  Emulsion Pump - Replace packing seal if necessary.
  3.  Conveyor Gearbox - Replace oil according to the maintenance schedule.

Engine

  1.  Fluids and Filters - Replace according to the maintenance schedule.
  2.  Coolant - Check level and add if necessary.
  3.  Fan Belt - Check to see if it is frayed or if there are cracks on the poly-v side.  Replace if necessary.
